Check that the page is indexed via the meta-robots tag

Go to the page, right-click > view page source

Then do Ctrl + F and type “meta-robots”

If the tag exists, make sure it does not contain the directive "noindex" as below. If it does, Google has followed your reco, and deindexed the page.

If the tag does not exist (this is good, you have told Google to index it), or if it exists but has a “noindex” directive, let’s see if Google knows the page:

And there are two options:

  • The page is not indexed so it is expected not to be positioned on the related keyword

  • The page is indexed (see below), which means we have to find other reasons for the drop in positions!

Ask yourself the following questions

  • Did my robots.txt file block the crawl of this page with a "Disallow" of this URL?

  • Did I change anything on this page last week and if so, what was it? Title, content, images, other?

  • Have I changed anything on my site that could have impacted this page? For example, I modified the menu or the structure of the site, and as a result the page would have received perhaps fewer internal links than before, making it less relevant in the eyes of Google.

If you can't seem to find anything, then...press the little button at the bottom right and contact us, we will be happy to help you!
